       Yucheng station is located in the hinterland of the Yellow River and Huaihai Plain, the landform type is the Yellow River alluvial plain, the soil parent material is the Yellow River alluvium, mainly tidal soil and saline tidal soil, the texture of the topsoil is light - medium loam. The area is a warm-temperate semi-humid monsoon climate zone, the ancient Yellow River path formed by the sandy land, silt and saline land, seasonal waterlogging floodplains are distributed among each other, historically drought, silt and flood, saline, wind and sand and other natural disasters are frequent, the ecological environment is fragile, but the production potential is great, is the main agricultural production area of the Huanghuaihai Plain. Agriculture in the region relies mainly on irrigation from the lower reaches of the Yellow River, with the Yellow River, the Tu Shi River, the Ma Bu River and the Zhang Wei Xin River running through it, with dense irrigation and drainage canals and shallow groundwater depths. The area's agro-ecosystem is dominated by cultivation (wheat, maize and vegetables), animal husbandry (cattle, chickens and pigs) and aquaculture, which is typical and representative of the agricultural types in the Huanghuaihai Plain.
        After more than 50 years of accumulation, Yucheng Station has laid a solid foundation in the field of agroecosystem ecology, focusing on the scientific frontiers of water and material transport and regional environmental effects in irrigated farmland ecosystems, farmland ecosystem management and climate change response and adaptation, and agroecological remote sensing and information technology, carrying out in-depth scientific research, from water and salt transport to coastal saline land management, from efficient and sustainable use of resources to From water and salt transport to coastal saline land management, from efficient and sustainable use of resources to recycling agriculture and green agriculture, a series of achievements have been made. These researches are both important research directions in agro-ecological system ecology and urgent problems in China's agricultural development, which are of great scientific and practical significance.
