The long-term cropland nutrient balance field was built in 1990, and the field consisted of 25 different test plots of 5 m × 6 m. The experiment was set up with five treatments including blank, NPK, NP, NK, and PK with four replications, and another straw return combined with fertilizer application treatment and control. A winter wheat-summer maize crop rotation was used for the cropping system. The long-term supply capacity of soil nutrients (N, P, K) and soil nutrient-crop action mechanism under N, P, K stress conditions were investigated.
The facility was one of the first networked observation fields in China.
